Mini Master Africa U-12 Basketball Championship: Lagos club top group B, zoom into quarter final

A Lagos based basketball club Bobcats basketball academy has topped the group B among other four clubs at the ongoing Mini Master Africa U-12 Basketball Championship.

The club studded with lanky and diminutive players displayed their basketball artistry at the National stadium, Lagos, as they won four matches out of the five matches to qualify to the quarter finals. They defeated Warrior 22-9 in their opening match, fought hard to edge Book N' Read team from Osun state 11-12.

They hammered Elevators club from Kano state 16-13 while they won Patriot club from Bayelsa 17-10.

Also, Five Fingers basketball academy from Ogun state is presently the leader of group A but need one win to qualify to the quarter finals having won three matches.

Speaking with Akunebu Obi who played for Five Fingers basketball academy, he said he felt excited featuring again in this tournament, adding that his team can become the champion of the tournament by working together.

"We can become the champion by playing and cooperating together."

After Elevators lost 3-16 to Bobcats, in an interview with sportxvibe.blogspot.com, the coach, Elevators Youth Development Academy from Kano state Mr. Amos James said the tournament was platform for the young ones to build confidence in themselves.

"We have being in the game for a long time, we are just trying to impact young kids. I feel you win some, you lose some, you improve on every game, that is how is played. Champions are not made in a day." He said.
