SM&BS Isolo defeat LASPOSUG defending champion, School of agric, 2-0

The School of Management and Business Studies (SM&BS) defeated the defending champion School of Agriculture, 2-0 as the 2018/2019 LaspoSUG league campaign started on Wednesday, January 9, 2019.

Before the encounter at the institution's main campus Ikorodu, a novelty match was played between the Students' Union Executives and Judiciary arm (SUG) and Students Union and Students' Representative Council (SRC) which ended 1-0 in favour of SUG thanks to the SUG sports director Yusuf Adeshina who scored via a penalty kick.

The atmosphere was frenzy as students were entertained by the much awaited annual soccer game.

At the blast of the whistle, the players of SM&BS dominated possessions leaving their opponents in the dark.

Five minute into the match, the school of agriculture defense was poor as their defender Sunmonu Korede headed the ball into his goal spot to give SM&BS Isolo the lead.

Efforts to level the score by the school of agriculture proved abortive as their opponents were resilient at their defense.

SM&BS could have doubled their lead in three minutes to the end of the first half but the effort went off the net.

In the second half, SM&BS Isolo midfielder Shobande Sanya doubled the lead to registered the team at the second position on the table.

Another match that amazed fans was the tie between the School of Communications and Liberal Studies (SC&LS) and School of Technology that ended 4-0 in favour of SC&LS. SC&LS have registered their place at the summit of the league.

Also it was goalless between the School of Engineering and School of Applied Science. And School of Technology edged SMBS Ikorodu 1-0.
