HIFL 2019: Oladimeji, Folarin send UI Pioneers to round of 16

University of Ibadan UI Pioneers players Alabi Folarin and Abdulmalik Oladimeji goals against the Lagos State University LASU blazers has booked their spot in the round of 16 of the ongoing Higher Institutions Football League (HIFL).

The much anticipated match which determined who emerged as second in group B was keenly contested as UI Pioneers fired from all cylinder to end the two matches unbeaten streak of LASU blazers.

40 minutes after good exchange of good football artistry between them, Abdulmalik Oladimeji broke the deadlock as he gave his the lead.

4 minutes later at the death of the first half, Alabi Folarin doubled the lead as he sealed the victory for his team.

LASU blazers players could not tame the claw of UI Pioneers as they struggled to create string of passes.

In the 54 minutes, UI Pioneers player Abraham header was cancelled as the refree adjudged an infringement after nice build up from the right flank.

LASU blazers lost to UI Pioneers 2-0 but they both qualified to the round of 16. LASU blazers finished with six points as the leader of the group while UI Pioneers finished as second with 5 points.

In the second match between Lead City University LCU gladiators and Afe Babalola University Ado- Ekiti ABUAD stars, it ended 3-1 in favour of  LCU gladiators.
