CBN Tennis Junior Championship: Dawariye, Serena, 14 other kids reach final, jostle to emerge champion

A 15-years old David Dawariye, Serena Teluwo and 14 other kids have qualified to the final of the CBN Tennis Junior Championship which will be played tomorrow Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club.

The road to the finals witnessed hard fought matches at the semifinals as each participants put a fight against each other.

In the boys category for under 16, David Dawariye defeated Joshua Maxwell 9-5 in a professional set. While Suleiman Ibrahim won Daniel Adeleye 9-2 in a professional set. The winners will slug it out in the final.

The girls category for under 16 witnessed Omolade Aderemi knocked out Rebecca Ekpeyong 9-4 in a professional set while Omolayo Bamidele ousted Favour Moses 9-2 in a professional set. The winners will face each other in the final.

Also, in the girl category for under 14, Serena Teluwo won Afolabi Imole 9-2 in a professional set while Salamalu Haruna defeated Esther Oni 9-5 in a professional set. The winners will play in the final.

In the boys category for under 14, David Ekpeyong will face Ganiyu Mubarak in the final.

In the girls category for under 12, Nnene Yakubu will play against Favour Amaechi in the final.

In the boys category for under 12, Seun Ogunsakin had a fierce three set match against Peter Idoko 8-10, 10-9 and 10-8 to emerge winner while Lucky Danjuma won via a super tie break against Aina Henry 11-9, 10-4. The winners will play in the final.

Going into the final for boys category under 12,  Ogunsakin in an interview with Sportxvibe.blogspot.com said he is confident for his victory over Danjuma.

"My determination is to beat him by being serious, focus, consistent and concentrating on the game." He said.

Recounting how Ogunsakin knocked him out in the last edition, Danjuma said he is on a revenege mission.

"I will try to win by concentrating and knowing the kind of game to play against him.  I will ensure all my balls are inside the net." He said.

For the under 10 boys, Yohanna Yakubu will slug it out against Awal Jaji while in the girls category Esther Ehimebe will play against Larelax Holzendorf.
